AboutFace ("we", "our", or "us"), operated by SocialQ, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the AboutFace mobile application and related services.

2. Camera and Face Data

AboutFace uses your device's camera to power facial-expression recognition games. Here is exactly what we do and do not do with that data:

• Camera access is used in real time to analyze facial expressions on-device.
• We do not store, transmit, or share raw video or photo captures from the camera during gameplay.
• Facial-analysis results (e.g. emotion scores) may be sent to our servers solely to calculate your game score and track your progress.
• When you explicitly upload a photo (Upload feature), that image is stored securely on our servers and linked to your account. You may delete it at any time.
• We do not sell face data or biometric information to any third party.
• We do not use face data for advertising, tracking, or identification.
• Face and camera data are never used to build a biometric identity profile.

3. Information We Collect

• Account information: Email address and password (stored hashed) when you register.
• Game progress: Scores, difficulty levels, and completed modules to track your learning journey.
• Uploaded photos: Images you explicitly submit through the Upload feature.
• Device information: Basic device type and OS version for crash reporting and compatibility.
• Purchase information: Subscription status processed through Apple's App Store. We do not store your payment card details.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the app's features and content.
• To track and display your learning progress.
• To manage your account and subscription.
• To respond to your support requests.
• To maintain the security and integrity of our services.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• RevenueCat — subscription management (anonymized user ID and purchase status only).
• Amazon Web Services — cloud infrastructure for storing your account data and uploaded photos securely.
• Vercel — web hosting for our web application.
• Law enforcement or regulators, only when required by law.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app, which permanently removes your account data and uploaded photos from our systems within 30 days. You may also email us at the address below to request deletion.

7. Children's Privacy

AboutFace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and secure password hashing. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but take reasonable steps to protect your information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
